Silverscene Photography Workshops

Our photography workshops are designed for people with a passion for photography and the great outdoors. We aim to introduce you to some of the most photogenic locations in Devon, Cornwall and the rest of the UK. Ultimately we want you to be inspired by what you see and experience, and to come away from your stay with great pictures.

Our workshops are designed to accommodate up to 6 people per workshop providing maximum attention for each person. We move at your pace and concentrate on getting the best from each location. Lee uses a digital SLR camera to demonstrate techniques in the field and caters for both film and digital users.

Subjects covered include landscape, architecture, wildflowers, woodlands, villages and some wildlife. You will have the chance to photograph beautiful locations within Devon such as Dartmoor National Park, with it's medieval ruins, wild landscapes and quaint villages and the scenic South coast with it's sheltered bays, wildflower covered cliff tops and harbours. 

We also run workshops in other parts of the UK with new locations being added constantly, wild mountainous Welsh landscape, beautiful historic Bath architecture, dramatic Cornish and Dorset coastline.


Workshop Types:

Devon Moors & Coast:
Our popular Devon workshops each include a mix of great locations from picturesque South Coast fishing ports and beaches to wild moorland landscape and medieval ruins. These workshops are a specialty and offer the chance to photograph the familiar and unfamiliar locations of Devon at the best times with expert local knowledge from Lee. You will be based at Furze Leigh Mill for your stay, great views and lovely food.

Exmoor:
Photograph the dramatic Lorna Doone countryside and the stunning coastline on this Autumnal workshop. We will concentrate on shooting the countryside and coastline of Exmoor National Park including places such as Porlock Weir, Selworthy, Valley of Rocks and Dunkery Beacon. Heather, quaint thatched cottages and rugged coastline scenery. We will be based in Minehead, close to Dunster and Luccombe.


Cornwall:
Our Cornwall trip is timed to coincide with the arrival of Spring. Cliff tops carpeted in wildflowers, and dramatic coastlines. We will photograph some great locations including, St Michael’s Mount, The Lizard and Wheal Coates mine. We will stay at the Ponsmere hotel right on the beach at Perranporth.

Jurassic Dorset Coast:
This new trip will cover the Jurassic Dorset coastline between Lyme Regis and Swanage. A low Winter sun will provide us with the perfect light to capture the deep oranges of the cliffs at places like Burton Bradstock, wild storms and seas at Portland Bill, fossils the list is endless. We will stay on the coast with all meals included.

Snowdonia:
Mountains, lakes, coastline, castles this workshop has it all. The dramatic landscape of Snowdonia takes some beating, based on the edge of Tal-y-Llyn lake which sits below Cadair Idris we are a stones throw from some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK. We will stay at the Tynycornel Hotel.

Lake District:
Our new Lake District workshop is a popular choice as it coincides with the best of the Autumnal colours in the area. Based in Keswick we will photograph the beautiful Cumbrian lakes, countryside and fells in the area including Derwentwater, Buttermere and Loughrigg Tarn. We will also visit Castlerigg Stone circle and of course some of the areas rivers and waterfalls too. Based at the Crow Park Hotel overlooking Derwentwater and backed by Skiddaw, a great base for the trip.

1 - 1 Workshops:
Our 1 - 1 workshops will concentrate on your photography and how to get the best from your equipment. Based in Devon the day will include a dawn and dusk shoot - weather permitting - photographing various locations on Dartmoor and the South coast. The price includes B&B accommodation and a pub lunch on the day. £170 per person.

Personal and equipment insurance is not included.


What do I bring?
A camera of your choice - ideally a SLR digital or film type, or medium format.
Instruction book for your camera.
A selection of lenses, filters would be ideal.
A tripod and plenty of film/digital storage.
Waterproof clothing and boots or sensible footwear is essential.
A suitable bag or rucksack for your equipment.
Spending money for souvenirs, drinks and extra film.
