Silverscene Photography Workshops
Our photography workshops are designed for people with a passion for photography and the great outdoors. We aim to introduce you to some of the most photogenic locations in the UK. Ultimately we want you to be inspired by what you see and experience, and to come away from your workshop with great pictures. Our workshops accommodate small groups of up to 5 people providing maximum attention for each person. We offer a mix of workshops from half days to 4 days. We also offer One2One workshops. We will move at your pace and concentrate on getting the best from each location. The majority of our workshops are landscape based although there are opportunities to shoot architecture, flowers, woodlands, villages, people and wildlife. We cater for digital and film users alike and total beginners through to advanced photographers. Lee chooses the best locations for each workshop, making the most of local knowledge to capture them in the best conditions. Early starts and late evenings are part of the package, as Lee says "stay out late, get up early". Lee currently uses Canon digital equipment, Photoshop and CaptureOne RAW software and will advise on these packages as well as equipment such as filters, cameras and image storage. Great locations, great food, good company and no pressure all add up to give you a great photography experience. Your pictures at your pace.

How do I book a workshop ?.
1: Choose your workshop and/or suitable date and using the contact form enquire about availability first.
2: Once an available place has been confirmed come back to this page and pay your deposit by using the online facility. Alternatively you can pay by cheque/post. We accept all major debit & credit cards.
3: Download the booking form and terms from this page, fill it in and send back. You can post the form or scan and email it back. Please make sure it is signed.
4: Your place will be reserved and confirmation sent.
5: The balance payment can be paid here or by sending a cheque. Balances are due 2 weeks before the workshop starts.
6: We offer a 10% discount on selected workshops to previous workshop customers. To take advantage of this offer when booking online please pay the full price and Silverscene will issue a cheque or card refund for the offer amount.

Photo 2 Frame Workshop.
Devon. 11th & 12th Sept. Price £475 per person.
From camera capture to framed print, this workshop will take you from image capture through print preparation and creative mounting to finished framed print. Lee will guide you through the first half of the workshop helping you create a picture worthy of hanging on your wall. During the second half Lee will hand over to Larry St Croix (MA RCA & FRSA) who will explain how to use creative mounting and framing techniques to display your picture. Exmoor 1 Day Workshop

We will be shooting the coastline and countryside of Exmoor National Park including locations such as Porlock Weir, Selworthy village and the Valley of Rocks on this early Autumn workshop. Peaks & Valleys of the Tatra Mountains, Slovakia.

The Tatra Mountains Slovakia has everything a photographer could wish for, unique culture, historical architecture, friendly people & of course spectacular landscapes. I am acting as photographic tutor on this workshop alongside owner and guide Matt Jevons from Tatra Photography. On this Tatra workshop we will have 2 evenings overnight in remote mountain cottages. During the week we will walk (2 hours to location) to a remote mountain cottage located in one of the valleys of the Tatra national park. This location is surrounded by the beautiful mountain valleys, rugged Tatra peaks and three lake locations perfect for reflections and sunrise shots. The mountain saddle will provide us with plenty of sunset opportunities. For the second overnight experience we will take you too one of the most stunning places in Europe, Lomnicky Peak 2635M, we have special permission for our Tatra workshop group to stay overnight in the apartment on the mountain peak to photograph the neighbouring peaks and valleys of the Slovak & Polish Tatras, this unique opportunity for sunset & sunrise shooting is not to be missed, and on those clear nights we can practice star trail photography. Mountains, lakes, castles and coastline are all on the menu for this Autumnal workshop in one of the UK's landscape hotspots. Snowdonia National Park is full of great locations and we will be there during Autumn to make the most of the gorgeous Welsh light. Llynnau Cregennen, Caernarfon Castle, Dolgoch Falls are just some of the locations. We are based on the edge of Tal Y Llyn lake for this 4 day workshop. This workshop is timed to coincide with the best of the Autumn colour in Lorna Doone country. We will focus on the stunning countryside and coastline of Exmoor National Park including locations at Porlock Weir, Selworthy, Valley of Rocks and Lynmouth. Days are shorter but we will have plenty to photograph, from rolling countryside to quaint thatched cottages and beautiful wild beaches. Last Light Workshop - Bowermans Nose & Hound Tor.

This late Autumn workshop will focus on the East side of Dartmoor including iconic locations including Saddle Tor, Hound Tor and finishing at Bowermans Nose for sunset. We will be out in the landscape for 5 - 6 hours shooting the landscape. Places are limited to 5. A packed supper and transport is provided during the workshop.
Jurassic Dorset Coast.
16th - 19th Dec. Price £540 per person.
We will photograph some stunning seascapes on this coastal workshop, including iconic locations such as Portland Bill, Burton Bradstock, Kimmeridge Bay and Lyme Regis. The low Winter sunlight during December illuminates the Jurassic coastline beautifully. We will also take a trip to Corfe Castle and Durdle Door. This 4 day workshop is the ideal escape from the Christmas rush. We start at 3pm on the 16th and finish at 4pm on the 19th. One2One Workshops.
Various dates throughout the year. Price £195 residential or £150 non-residential.
Our popular One2One workshops are ideal for those who don't want to be part of a group and want to focus on a specific area of photography within a day of photography. Based in Devon we will photograph various locations on Dartmoor and the South Devon coast. The workshop starts on the first day at approximately 5pm until sunset. The following day we go out for a dawn shoot, breakfast then a full day of photography finishing at 4pm. Residential option includes 1 nights B&B at the Moorland Hotel. Moorland Hotel

South Devon Coast 1 Day workshop.
Sat 15th January. Price £100 per person.
This 1 day workshop will concentrate on shooting the South Devon coast. Low Winter sunlight and atmospheric beaches, coves and harbours await. Locations will include, Paignton Pier, Westcombe beach, Bantham and Thurlestone bay. The day starts at 9.30am through to sunset with the option of a dawn shoot on the Sunday morning. Places are limited to 5 on this workshop. A lunch and transport is provided during the workshop.
North Devon Coast 1 Day workshop.
Sat 12th February. Price £100 per person.
This 1 day workshop will concentrate on shooting the North Devon coast. In contrast with the South, the North coast is much wilder and untamed and during Winter very atmospheric. Locations will include, Hartland Quay, Abbotsham cliff, Valley of Rocks and Watersmeet. The day starts at 9.30am through to sunset with the option of a dawn shoot on the Sunday morning. Places are limited to 5 on this workshop. A lunch and transport is provided during the workshop.
West Cornwall.
2nd - 4th March. Price £395 per person.
This workshop is timed to coincide with the end of Winter and arrival of Spring. Primarily a coastal based landscape we will concentrate on shooting the Western tip of Cornwall. Locations include Penberth Cove, Porth Nanven, Botallack mines and dawn and dusk shoots at St Michaels Mount. This 3 day workshop starts at 3pm on the 2nd and finishes at 4pm on the 4th. Bath.

Bath city is packed to the brim with architectural gems, this workshop is designed to shoot the best the city has to offer from dawn until dusk and beyond. Floodlit buildings, Spring flowers and the beautiful river Avon and Kennett canal. Locations include, Pulteney bridge, the Roman Baths, The Abbey and Royal Crescent. Exmoor Coast 1 Day workshop.

This 1 day workshop will concentrate on shooting the stunning Exmoor coast between Porlock and Lynton, dramatic cliffs, atmospheric coves and picturesque harbours. Locations will include, Valley of Rocks, Lynmouth harbour, and Porlock weir. The day starts at 9.30am through to sunset with the option of a dawn shoot on the Sunday morning. Plitvice Lakes & Waterfalls, Croatia.
12th - 15th May. Price £599.00 per person. 5 places left.
Join the Tatra photography team in Croatia's breathtaking natural splendour of Plitvice lakes & waterfalls. Plitvice Lakes are composed of 16 interlinked lakes and 25 hectares of woods, lakes and waterfalls surrounded by the mountains of Mala Kapela and Pljesivica, Plitvice lakes are renowned for their distinctive colours, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colours change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight. We will use the eight km of pathways and wooden walking trails around the lakes to photograph this outstanding location. The trails descend from an altitude of 636m to 503m above sea level. The lakes that are formed by natural dams are separated into upper and lower lakes providing fantastic photographic opportunities. Tatra photography provide photographic tuition with British professional photographer Lee Pengelly, during the workshop you will be able to learn all the different techniques to photograph the lakes & waterfalls and come home with some outstanding images. Over the four days, you can expect a packed workshop of great photography, great company and great food in the beautiful surroundings of the lakes & mountains of Croatia.. This is a new South Hams workshop, now based in picturesque Salcombe. The South Hams is an area of outstanding natural beauty and where better to base ourselves for this early Summer workshop. Fireworks Workshop.

This popular workshop is in it's 3rd year now and proves to be the best the chance to perfect your firework shooting. 6 shows over two nights plus a full day of landscape photography in between, getting you in the right place at the right time.the workshop includes two nights B&B accommodation plus lunch on the landscape day. What’s Included on a workshop? Accommodation with bed, breakfast, evening meal and packed lunch(selected trips). Comfortable transport during the workshop with tea & coffee. Friendly informative guidance and tuition in an informal style. Personal and equipment insurance is not included.
What do I bring? A camera of your choice - ideally a SLR digital or film type, or medium format. Camera manual. A selection of lenses. Filters such as a polariser and greay graduates are ideal. A sturdy tripod and plenty of film/digital storage. Waterproof clothing and boots or sensible footwear is essential. A suitable bag or rucksack for your equipment. Spending money for souvenirs, drinks and extra film.

South Devon Coast 1 Day workshop.
Sat 15th January. Price £100 per person.
This 1 day workshop will concentrate on shooting the South Devon coast. Low Winter sunlight and atmospheric beaches, coves and harbours await. Locations will include, Paignton Pier, Westcombe beach, Bantham and Thurlestone bay. The day starts at 9.30am through to sunset with the option of a dawn shoot on the Sunday morning. Places are limited to 5 on this workshop. A lunch and transport is provided during the workshop.
North Devon Coast 1 Day workshop.
Sat 12th February. Price £100 per person.
This 1 day workshop will concentrate on shooting the North Devon coast. In contrast with the South, the North coast is much wilder and untamed and during Winter very atmospheric. Locations will include, Hartland Quay, Abbotsham cliff, Valley of Rocks and Watersmeet. The day starts at 9.30am through to sunset with the option of a dawn shoot on the Sunday morning. Places are limited to 5 on this workshop. A lunch and transport is provided during the workshop.
West Cornwall.
2nd - 4th March. Price £395 per person.
This workshop is timed to coincide with the end of Winter and arrival of Spring. Primarily a coastal based landscape we will concentrate on shooting the Western tip of Cornwall. Locations include Penberth Cove, Porth Nanven, Botallack mines and dawn and dusk shoots at St Michaels Mount. This 3 day workshop starts at 3pm on the 2nd and finishes at 4pm on the 4th. Bath.

Bath city is packed to the brim with architectural gems, this workshop is designed to shoot the best the city has to offer from dawn until dusk and beyond. Floodlit buildings, Spring flowers and the beautiful river Avon and Kennett canal. Locations include, Pulteney bridge, the Roman Baths, The Abbey and Royal Crescent. Exmoor Coast 1 Day workshop.

This 1 day workshop will concentrate on shooting the stunning Exmoor coast between Porlock and Lynton, dramatic cliffs, atmospheric coves and picturesque harbours. Locations will include, Valley of Rocks, Lynmouth harbour, and Porlock weir. The day starts at 9.30am through to sunset with the option of a dawn shoot on the Sunday morning. Plitvice Lakes & Waterfalls, Croatia.

Join the Tatra photography team in Croatia's breathtaking natural splendour of Plitvice lakes & waterfalls. Plitvice Lakes are composed of 16 interlinked lakes and 25 hectares of woods, lakes and waterfalls surrounded by the mountains of Mala Kapela and Pljesivica, Plitvice lakes are renowned for their distinctive colours, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colours change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight. We will use the eight km of pathways and wooden walking trails around the lakes to photograph this outstanding location. The trails descend from an altitude of 636m to 503m above sea level. The lakes that are formed by natural dams are separated into upper and lower lakes providing fantastic photographic opportunities. Tatra photography provide photographic tuition with British professional photographer Lee Pengelly, during the workshop you will be able to learn all the different techniques to photograph the lakes & waterfalls and come home with some outstanding images. Over the four days, you can expect a packed workshop of great photography, great company and great food in the beautiful surroundings of the lakes & mountains of Croatia.. Fireworks Workshop.

This popular workshop is in it's 3rd year now and proves to be the best the chance to perfect your firework shooting. 6 shows over two nights plus a full day of landscape photography in between, getting you in the right place at the right time.the workshop includes two nights B&B accommodation plus lunch on the landscape day. This workshop is timed to coincide with the best of the Autumn colour in Lorna Doone country. We will focus on the stunning countryside and coastline of Exmoor National Park including locations at Porlock Weir, Selworthy, Valley of Rocks and Lynmouth. Days are shorter but we will have plenty to photograph, from rolling countryside to quaint thatched cottages and beautiful wild beaches. Snowdonia.
24th - 27th October. Price £580 per person.
Mountains, lakes, castles and coastline are all on the menu for this Autumnal workshop in one of the UK's landscape hotspots. Snowdonia National Park is full of great locations and we will be there during Autumn to make the most of the gorgeous Welsh light. Llynnau Cregennen, Caernarfon Castle, Dolgoch Falls are just some of the locations. We are based on the edge of Tal Y Llyn lake for this 4 day workshop. This Autumnal workshop will concentrate on the wilds of Dartmoor, from atmospheric ruins and historic ancient sites to tors, rivers and churches. Locations include, Nuns Cross Farm, Postbridge, Grimspound, Brentor Church and Lydford. Based on the South edge of Dartmoor we will be ideally situated to explore the area. Jurassic Dorset Coast.
1st - 3rd December. Price £395 per person.
We will photograph some stunning seascapes on this coastal workshop, including iconic locations such as Portland Bill, Burton Bradstock, Kimmeridge Bay and Lyme Regis. The low Winter sunlight during December illuminates the Jurassic coastline beautifully. We will also take a trip to Corfe Castle and Durdle Door. This 3 day workshop is the ideal escape from the Christmas rush. We start at 3pm on the 1st and finish at 4pm on the 3rd. What’s Included on a workshop? Accommodation with bed, breakfast, evening meal and packed lunch(selected trips). Comfortable transport during the workshop with tea & coffee. Friendly informative guidance and tuition in an informal style. Personal and equipment insurance is not included.
What do I bring? A camera of your choice - ideally a SLR digital or film type, or medium format. Camera manual. A selection of lenses. Filters such as a polariser and greay graduates are ideal. A sturdy tripod and plenty of film/digital storage. Waterproof clothing and boots or sensible footwear is essential. A suitable bag or rucksack for your equipment. Spending money for souvenirs, drinks and extra film.
